Wow, I just heard a most beautiful song… After All These Years by Silverchair… man these kids have grown, last time I remember hearing from them was from frogstomp their nirvanesque debut album. But the vocal complexity and beauty of melody and lyrics of this track, just made me travel to a 60’s Beatles exploratory vibe, with a bit of good Stevie W…
I guess talking a bit in the lines of the last article, this was my medicine of the day, It made me take a look at “All these years”. I was searching for the term “be whole” on youtube as some kind of “open-the-book-on-any-page-oracle-thing”… it just somehow eased my troubled thoughts about choices and stuff, like a soft breeze on a summer sunset beach day…
On other stuff, it made me think that sometimes is a challenge to acknowledge one’s own taste, I mean there are so many tunes out there and the popular stuff you hear it over and over again and somehow it sinks in, but not all of it really hits a chord with everyone. I mean, I dig simple songs don’t get me wrong, but there’s a part of me that really takes off when I see the potentials of deeper harmony done with lyrical purpose.
I do see that a song like this one is not going to be a hit, but who cares, I think that you have to make hits, to get yourself out there, but once that happens, then people have the opportunity to really get deeper into your stuff and see more of your explorations, of your color palette… maybe expressing all of your work in all these layers makes you be whole…. ha!, I got myself some revelation here…
If you haven’t heard this tune check it out and let me know what you think…
